About Us
Roots-Raices Bilingual Counseling began in 2019. It started first as a part time practice, but as we saw the need of the community, we were able to open and practice full time in 2020.
The focus of Roots-Raices Bilingual Counseling is to serve the Spanish speaking community, to educate the community about mental health, and break the stigma of mental health. We are passionate about helping couples, marriages, families, parents, inter racial relationships and children. Our bilingual staff is equipped and ready to work with those who seek therapy and counseling
Silvia Fernandez,
MS, MFT, LPC
Hello, I am Silvia Fernandez, Licensed Professional Counselor by the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling. I hold a Master’s (MS) degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis in Community Counseling from John Brown University. The graduate program I completed is accredited to meet the standards of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT). I am bilingual in Spanish and English, I have a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish and Minor in Psychology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. My formal education has prepared me to work with individuals, marriages, families, and groups. Apart from my professional education, I have been married for 35 years, I am a mother of three adult kids and a grandmother to five grandchildren. My hobbies include reading, gardening, and having family time.
Janet Gomez, MS, LAC
Hello I am Janet Gomez, a Licensed Associate Counselor by the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling. I hold a Master's (MS) degree in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health with an emphasis in Play Therapy from John Brown University. I am bilingual in English and Spanish, I have a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and a Minor in Spanish from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. My formal education and work experience has prepared me to work with individuals, children, parents, families and groups. I am a wife, a mother of a two, and an aunt to amazing nephews and nieces. My hobbies include photography, being outdoors, finding new places to eat and traveling. I enjoy spending time with family.
