About Us

Roots-Raices Bilingual Counseling began in 2019.  It started first as a part time practice, but as we saw the need of the community, we were able to open and practice full time in 2020.

The focus of Roots-Raices Bilingual Counseling is to serve the Spanish speaking community, to educate the community about mental health, and break the stigma of mental health. We are passionate about helping couples, marriages, families, parents, inter racial relationships and children. Our bilingual staff is equipped and ready to work with those who seek therapy and counseling

Maria Gomez, Student Intern

Hello! My name is Maria Gomez. I am a final year graduate student in the MS in Counseling program at John Brown University (JBU). I received my BA in Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas. In the past, I have taught children at a developmental preschool, which led me to pursue an emphasis in Play Therapy from JBU as well. As an intern, I have worked with adults, couples and children in the areas of grief, relationship issues, difficult emotions and other life stressors. I am interested in furthering studies on evidence-based trauma therapies. I am also bilingual in Spanish and English. My goal is to create a space for clients that helps them feel safe and heard. I intend to walk alongside clients and support them in pursuing their overall wellbeing. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading a good book, going on walks or being physically active. I also love trying new coffee shops and spending time with loved ones.
